Birmingham, AL, United States
ID: 317156Exp: 8/20/2026
Description:

Open auditions for "Cobb" play. Looking for cast. Please see breakdown below. About the project: Baseball legend Ty Cobb enters an argument with himself. Lee Blessing divides the controversial player into three men: Cobb as an ambitious nineteen-year-old beginning his career, Cobb in his early forties near the end of his playing days, and Cobb in his seventies as he approaches death. Their reckoning is interrupted by Oscar Charleston, the legendary Negro Leagues player once known as the “Black Cobb.” Charleston challenges Cobb to confront his personal history, his place in the game, and the players he refused to recognize during his lifetime. Moving freely through time, Cobb examines ambition, race, memory, mortality, and the complicated legacy of one of baseball’s most celebrated and contentious figures. Additional info: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. No prepared monologue is required. Actors of all experience levels are encouraged to audition. PERFORMANCES: Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4, 2026, 2:30 p.m. If you are interested, please apply.
