1 role

Mud (Jack’s Mother)Female40-59 y.o.All ethnicities

Jack’s working-class Irish mother, whose perspective grounds the show emotionally. Hard working laundress, tough & practical but deeply loving; lives with a philandering, drunk dockworker husband & is raising hungry children in straitened circumstances. Her songs chart a path from embittered resignation & worry (“So the Old Dog Has Come Home”) toward a painful, tentative acceptance that Jack’s need to perform might be valid & even beautiful. Strong Belt & Strong Mover/Dancer with tap as a plus.
