Albany, NY, United States
ID: 316393Exp: 8/2/2026
Description:

Actors wanted for short stage play “This Play is Not About a Statue”. For your reference, please see the information below. About the project: Auditions for ConfettiFest XXII, the 22nd iteration of annual festival of locally written one acts. Synopsis: In ancient Athens, six beautiful statues of carefully sculpted women called Caryatids held up a sacred temple. In the 19th century, Lord Elgin removed one of them to be displayed in the British Museum, an act that caused significant damage to the Temple when he took a piece of culture that did not belong to him. The remaining statues are now carefully displayed in the Acropolis museum, and space is held in that museum for the missing statue. A pedestal is saved for her, if she ever returns. If the sisters left behind could speak, this might be what they say. But then again, this play is not about a statue. Additional info: Sign-in is at 6:30pm. Auditions begin at at 7:00pm Auditions will consist of monologues and cold readings from the scripts. Actors are asked to prepare a 1-minute monologue of their choice and are allowed to read with script in hand, if needed. Mandatory tech week is September 26 – October 1. Performances will be October 2-4 and 8-11. If you are interested, please apply.
