"Blackout" New Stage Play Seeking Cast

New York, NY, United States
ID: 314343Exp: 6/30/2026
$500/project
Description:

Seeking Latine-presenting actors for "Blackout", a new play. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. The details are outlined below. About the project: SYNOPSIS: Emilia has returned back home to rekindle her relationship with her family after being away for so long. However, she also comes bearing big news and a decision that could change her relationship with her family forever. In attempts to break the news to her boisterous, melodramatic, and technologically reliant family, the power goes out due to a hurricane occurring outside of the confines of their living room. Without any technology to distract themselves, this family has nothing to do except talk to one another. Will this opportunity to truthfully engage with one another strengthen or destroy their dynamic? Rate: $100–$500 stipend. Additional info: Non-Union. AEA performers are welcome to apply and may be engaged under the AEA Showcase Code. NOTE: CLARA and SANTIAGO’s first language is not English, they are Spanish speakers, yet that does not constitute a stereotypical, thick accent. Also, dialogue in all caps does not always equate to flat-out screaming, it is heightened emotion. This is a Latino family, they don’t exactly engage with each other in hushed whispers, actors do with that as you will but stray from making the dialogue a one-note screaming match. Rehearsals begin: week of July 13th (Manhattan, New York). Technical rehearsal: Monday, August 17th, 2PM - 6PM. Performance: Monday, August 17, 2026, at 9:30 PM. If you are interested, please apply.
