Casting Performers for "Peter Pan & Wendy" Play

Loving and lovable, calm and wise.. Mrs. Darling loves her children, and acts as a safe haven for her kids. She knows how to solve a problem, and is not afraid to do so. She is associated with comfort and safety but also has a playful, imaginative, story-telling side. Mrs. Darling notices everything all of the time, and keeps order gently and skillfully.

A care-free boy of unwavering confidence. Peter is a spry, bouncy boy who has a lot of energy. He has a nimble and quick way of moving with an easy-going arrogance and aloofness. He is outgoing and doesn’t think before he shoots, but is brave and loves adventure. Peter is clever, poised, elegant, strategic and convincing. Mischievous. Captain of the Lost Boys.

Tinkerbell is a brave, tough fairy who stands up for Peter. She often is jealous of Wendy, for she has an affection for Peter that Wendy shares. This role may be performed by a technical artist.

John Darling the older of Wendy’s two younger brothers, a boy who is gaining independence and ready for adventure. He is funny and witty, but sometimes rude and a bit stereotypical about girls. John has a big heart but would rather be logical. He is curious, clever and well-informed.

Michael Darling is Wendy’s youngest brother. He is very sweet and child-like, a bit skittish , but also brave for his siblings. He looks to the brightness rather than the darkness, and would almost always rather be with his mother. He is earnest with a little kid’s voice. He loves his Teddy Bear.

Mr. Darling is funny and witty. He often complains but has a big heart. He loves his kids but can exaggerate, and often needs the help of his wife. Mr. Darling is commanding yet silly, often frustrated as if he feels he is falling short. There is a tension between performing his societal role as father and breadwinner, and his innate boyishness. Witty, irreverent, lovable. Dryly comedic.

A very good dog, also the Darling children’s nanny. Annoys Mr. Darling and Liza but is really actually the best. She is a watchdog for the household, especially the Daring children, but humans do not always understand her communication (The children understand it best).

Liza is the Darling family housekeeper. Dislikes chaos, and does not have much real authority with Nana and the children, but they behave respectfully toward her. She is logical and loving.

One of the young and innocent Lost Boys under Peter’s charge, Tootles is a loyal, funny, and sometimes brave lost boy who dearly wants—and needs—a mother. He is a pleaser, often trying to impress others for approval. He tries to be brave for his friends but may end up withdrawing.

The Lost Boys, along with Tootles. A group of young boys in Neverland who are led by and taken care of by Peter. They are loyal, funny, and innocent. They sometimes show their sadness and longing for a parent, but are overall bright and bouncy young boys.

Dignified, dangerous, melancholic and comedic. Hook is irritable, easily annoyed, intelligent, well-dressed, impatient, and gets called a codfish a lot. He often mindlessly puts other pirates in danger for the pleasure of himself. He is, though, very frightened of crocodiles and clocks.

A sailor and a pirate, Smee is Hook’s right hand man and knows somewhat how to exert an influence on Captain Hook. He is funny, a good physical comedian.

Along with Smee, the other of Hook’s two most loyal pirates. Starkey is not so smart and aims to please but does the wrong thing. Somewhat incompetent yet dangerous.

Crocodile is a vicious human-eater who thinks many are tasty—especially Captain Hook. Crocodile can be comedic and scary at the same time.

Tiger Lily is a brave young girl who is honest, can stand up for herself, and accepts help. She is noble and wise but quiet.

Never Bird is an exhausted mother who offers help but is so tired because of the caregiving of a mother that she cannot do it all. She is stern, lovely, and kind.

Wendy’s daughter. A bright, funny young girl. Practical & smart, she also gets a Neverland adventure.

Wendy grown up; may be doubled with another role.
