Seeking Talent for “Worn with Pride” Play
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. The play “Worn with Pride” is looking for talent. Please, see the details below. About the play: “Worn with Pride” is a new play set in a retirement facility. It centres on Marisol – a 74-year-old trans woman who has spent decades surviving by making herself invisible. When the facility Activity Director invites her to walk the runway of a Spring Fashion Show, Marisol dares to be seen. What follows is a collision between her fragile courage and the forces – social, financial, and familial – that have always conspired to keep her small. The play traces Marisol’s journey across two timelines: her present-day life in the facility and a series of memory scenes that reveal the full arc of who she has been – and what she has lost along the way. It is a play about the cost of self-expression, and a rehearsal for fighting back. Additional information: The exact schedule is still being confirmed but will be in mid-late May, 2026. Performers will be paid at industry rates for this engagement under the CAEA DOT Theatre policy. The opportunity is available for both union and non-union performers. Submission deadline: April 28, 2026. When applying, please submit your acting resume and head shot, the name of the role you are interested in, your availability for the audition date, and a brief note on your connection to the material (ie/trans experience, Latin heritage, queer identity, Forum/applied theatre background, or any combination).
1 role
A trans woman living in a long-term care facility. She has survived decades of hiding and loss to finally live as herself, but her independence is fragile. She is dignified, weary, and holding onto a spark of defiance. The play’s central figure. Every scene turns on her choices and fear. Seeking a trans woman of Latin heritage. Marisol carries the entire arc of the play – from isolation to courage to collapse. She must be able to hold both the vulnerability and the steel.
