7 role s

Valerie LarsenFemale26-49 y.o.All ethnicities

Val spent a decade as a computer engineer in the US Navy before being honorably discharged for medical reasons. She then became a content creator -- advocating for privacy rights and the wellbeing of the mentally ill. She’s a warm but reserved person who takes a while to open up with people. When she does, she’s forthright, passionate, and protective of those she loves. She’s developed strategies to succeed in a hostile world while quietly managing her personal struggles with mental illness.

Jerome MitchellMale30-49 y.o.All ethnicities

Jerome’s a political strategist known for his unconventional and shrewd approaches to media and communications. He’s a data-driven risk-taker with nuanced and complicated views on human nature – these beliefs stem from being born blind and a difficult upbringing he’d rather not talk about. At work, he’s a savvy extrovert – most of his colleagues wouldn’t suspect how conflicted he feels about his job, and the emptiness he feels at night, in his apartment, where he lives alone.

Sanjeev BoseMale35-60 y.o.Indian/South Asian

Sanjeev’s been in electoral politics most of his adult life – once he’s in office, he’s an effective legislator with a reputation for delivering results – but as a candidate, he struggles. He’s running for US Senate and he’s losing, he knows it, and he’s desperate. He’s getting older and his career hasn’t reached the heights he’d hoped. He’s a decent man and a boss open to new ideas, but he drinks too much and is prone to mood swings and losing his temper. He always apologizes though.

Grant NovakMale35-65 y.o.All ethnicities

A former chief technologist for the largest corporation in America. Now a politician, running for US Senate. Grant has a borderline religious belief in the positive benefits of new technologies. If citizens are resistant to their adoption, he’s not above mandating them – for the public’s own good. Right now, he’s winning his race for the Senate, but he’s just made a critical error. He’s made a mistake, and he’s not the kind of person who makes mistakes…

Carol GainesFemale40-70 y.o.African-American

An attorney with a niche. Specializing in political and criminal law, often on retainer by electoral campaigns. Standing at the intersection of law and politics, she’s seen it all and yet somehow maintains a deeply optimistic worldview. She grew up in the south, she’s deeply religious but keeps that to herself. She’s kind and fair in work and in her personal life, but if the situation calls for it, she’s got shark’s teeth to bear.

ScoopyMale21-30 y.o.All ethnicities

A rapid-fire, deliberately offensive, carnival barker of a content creator – out for clicks and clout. Despite his outrageousness, he seems to have powerful political connections, and a dark agenda of his own.

EngineerFemale25-35 y.o.All ethnicities

A prodigy software engineer who has spent almost a decade working on technology to assist the blind in navigating the world. When a vulnerability in that technology is exposed, she feels personally responsible and perhaps more remorseful than her colleagues. She’s the kind of person whose words don’t always land the way she intended. She talks because she’s uncomfortable with silence. Curious and awkward, and maybe beginning to have doubts about the nature of her work.
