Timid, artistically inclined middle schooler, who longs to make friends. Brady is an avid sketch artist who hides his works from others out of insecurity. Now, he finds himself resorting to the most desperate ends to make friends: impersonating another’s handwriting. He would rather have it seem like someone else is speaking his mind than have any chance his own words could come back to bite him.
Joyful, outgoing middle schooler. Julia is a thoughtful and attentive student who is willing to approach anyone. She immediately befriends Brady and tries to make him feel welcome. When she receives multiple confusing letters, she questions her friendships and the honesty it requires to keep them alive.
Kind, understanding middle schooler. Damian is a “cool kid” whom everyone wants to be friends with. He finds himself the victim of Brady’s mistakes. He feels like something is terribly wrong, but is too kind to question his friends’ actions without a reason.
