6 role s
Mexican Canadian. An inquisitive, passionate, strict yet emotionally stunted person. He’s the relatively new head chef at his family’s Mexican restaurant after his estranged parents’ sudden passing.
Mexican Canadian. A charismatic, kind yet somewhat arrogant and irresponsible person. Fer is the new owner of his late parents’ Mexican restaurant, inheriting it from his father. He has worked there since he was a teen, sacrificing much of his own dreams and education to support his family.
Ukrainian. Zlata is curious, humble, ambitious, yet anxious and shy. She recently immigrated to Canada on her own and isn’t fully comfortable with English, which makes her self-conscious and keeps her from forming close connections.
South Asian immigrant. Amaya is grounded, open, and somewhat distracted. Unlike her two bosses, she became a chef almost by accident but fell in love with the kitchen for its fast pace and sense of community. She doesn’t mind the subpar pay since she’s improving her cooking while finishing her studies in Marine Biology.
Ronald is extremely responsible, hardworking, and attentive, while also being the most uninterested cook in the kitchen. Work is work to him, nothing more, nothing less. If his shift starts at 5:00, he’ll be there at 5:01, and if it ends at 9:00, he’s out the door by 8:59.
Additional Character. Mexican. Hector is a wise, joyful, relaxed yet reserved man, like an uncle to both Raff and Fer, though not related by blood. He’s the oldest worker at the restaurant, both in experience and age, and knows the place, the recipes, and the people like the back of his hand. He’s not much of a talker and mostly keeps to himself, which suits him, he prefers to cook alone since others tend to throw off his groove.
