12 role s

LauraFemale19-24 y.o.All ethnicities

Laura is a young Colombian immigrant, who has ambitious dreams of moving to the United States pursuing her studies and independence. She is kind, optimistic and emotionally sensitive. Before the assault she carries her culture with so much pride and devotion but quickly she'll be aware of how her and her community aren't as welcome in her new to be “home”. After surviving a violent racist assault, fear begins to dictate her choices.

DanielMale20-25 y.o.All ethnicities

Daniel is a Latino immigrant whose life is already established in the United States. He is a respectful and grounded classmate who tries to help her from the first moment he sees her seeking a safe place. His actions show comfort and that he genuinely cares for her, wishing her to reconnect with her roots. He is her sign that creating a Latino community is not far from her.

MichaelMale20-25 y.o.All ethnicities

Michel is the typical ignorant, uneducated white man who will represent the environment Laura feels pressured to assimilate into. He has never dealt with being part of a minority or with his humanity being taken away from him, because yet again he is white guy who is a citizen of the United States of America.

Man 1Male26-33 y.o.All ethnicities

Dominant, entitled behaviour and overtly aggressive, Man 1 is the primary perpetrator of the racist attack. His words are intended to purely sexualize her and his actions are purely meant to physically violate Laura. He sees women as objects, as he is the physical manifestation of hostility towards migrants and becomes the sole reason for the fracture of Laura´s sense of security.

Man 2Male26-35 y.o.All ethnicities

Sarcastic and complicit, Man 2 reinforces the behaviour of Man 1. He is a perpetrator of violence through his bystander approach, but his mockery and participation contribute to the fracturing of Laura's identity. This man reinforces how harassment is normalized within group dynamics as well as how men can assert their “power” over women.. His presence intensifies Laura´s fear when the assault occurs.
