Father of Jordan & Jalen. Markus returns from deployment to his family a completely changed man. He wants to be the husband and father he vowed to be, but feels deeply misunderstood. He crosses lines mentally, verbally, and physically causes pain to his family. He's overfilled with rage from trauma. Markus' arc in TSIRF revolves around his relashionship to his son, Jordan.

Caring, passionate, protective. Tough on the surface to protect her kids, Jordan & Jalen. Maria and Markus fell in love and married at a young age. She now must protect her children from the man she once loved, which leads to having to make difficult decisions.

Rafael and Markus became close during their time in the military. Though they both faced difficult situations, and Rafael was the one who found healthy ways to cope. Rafael relates to Markus, yet still provides aid and empathy to the Greer family separately.

Jordan's English teacher. The teacher that encourages you to pursue your dreams no matter how big or small. Although he is old fashioned, he is still able to connect with his students by being present and invested in their success. He recognizes the talent that Jordan has & encourages him to continue his poetry.
