About the project: In 1867, LAW, a former slave and boxer, humiliates his ex-overseer Jim O'Grady in a fight, exposing the fragile power Jim still clings to after the Civil War. Blinded by rage, Jim returns with his three brothers and beats LAW to death under cover of lawlessness. LAW's young daughter, SELAH, secretly witnesses the murder. When the men realize she has seen them, they give chase. She runs for her life but is caught and killed, her death ensuring their crime remains buried. Unpunished and unrecorded, the murders become the origin of a generational curse. SELAH's silenced voice does not vanish—it becomes the force that echoes through the story to come.
