LEAD. Neutral American accent. Reserved, intelligent, and deeply empathetic, Liam is a young man carrying a corrosive guilt. In the aftermath of Jackson’s death, he is desperate to do the right thing, or at least to believe that he is. Unbeknownst to the others, Liam is wearing a wire, working with police to draw out a confession. But as the night unfolds, his certainty erodes.

LEAD. Southern accent. Tobey is a physically imposing, intimidating presence, the kind of guy who is used to commanding a room without raising his voice. As president of his fraternity and a longtime friend of Liam’s, he’s built his identity around loyalty and love for his brothers. But after receiving a call from a detective regarding the circumstances of Jackson’s death, his control begins to slip.

SUPPORTING. Neutral American accent. Quick-witted and running on fumes, Kurt is the youngest and most spirited of the group. He’s irritated by the late hour and openly resentful of being pulled into a meeting he’d rather sleep through. Fiercely loyal to the fraternity, Kurt believes deeply in its culture and traditions, no matter how reckless they may be. He is convinced they did nothing wrong in regard to Jackson’s death.

SUPPORTING. Southern accent. Scott is a razor-sharp law student and a devoted member of the fraternity. He’s analytical, articulate, and shrewd. Unlike the rest of the group, Scott can clearly see where this is headed. He knows the law, and knows what his role in Jackson’s death means for him. As the pressure mounts, his composure deteriorates, culminating in a panic he can’t reason his way out of.

SUPPORTING. Southern accent. Jackson is a fiery AEK pledge, driven by a deep need for belonging. He wants desperately to be accepted by the brotherhood and is willing to endure humiliation and pain to earn his place. When he makes a fatal mistake by spreading a rumor about Tobey, Jackson becomes the target of punishment. He remains steadfast in his commitment to the fraternity despite the abuse. His tragic death is the center of the story.

Jackson’s mother is devastated by the loss of her only son. After watching the perpetrators walk free in court, she exits alone to the parking lot, where the composure she’s been holding onto finally collapses. In isolation, she breaks down.
