About the project: The Music Man follows traveling salesman Harold Hill as he arrives in the small town of River City, Iowa, charming its residents with promises of a boys’ band, new instruments, and a brighter future. As the town rallies around the idea of music and possibility, Harold finds himself unexpectedly changed by the community he intended to fool. Our production of The Music Man will be a joyful, ensemble-driven celebration of community and connection, centered on what can happen when people choose to believe in one another. We will treat River City as a living, breathing character—full of humor, contradictions, care, and collective energy, and explore how fear and hope move through a close-knit community side by side. Additional info: Rehearsal Schedule Start Date: Monday, March 9, 2026 General Schedule: Monday – Friday evenings. Not all cast members will be called for every rehearsal. Vocal Range: Baritone (approx. A2–F4) A magnetic storyteller with a gift for reading a room and turning doubt into possibility. Harold arrives as an outsider with a polished pitch, but what makes the role compelling is his gradual shift from performance to genuine connection. We’re looking for charisma, specificity, and an actor interested in building real relationships with the town.
Vocal Range: Legit Soprano (approx. G3–F5/A5) River City’s librarian and piano teacher. Sharp, principled, and deeply observant, Marian sees through bravado but still longs for joy and surprise. Looking to be played with wit, warmth, and emotional clarity rather than stiffness.
Vocal Range: Mezzo/Alto (approx. E3–D5) Marian and Winthrop’s mother. Practical, optimistic, and quietly romantic, she carries the emotional weather of her household. A role that rewards grounded humor and sincerity
Vocal Range: Bari-tenor Harold’s old friend who has chosen to settle down in River City. Funny, loyal, and at ease in the world, Marcellus acts as a bridge between Harold and the town. Strong ensemble instincts and movement skills encouraged.

Vocal Range: Alto/Mezzo The mayor’s wife and a commanding social presence. Passionate, ambitious, and deeply committed to “culture,” Eulalie is funniest when played with sincerity and confidence rather than caricature.
Vocal Range: Tenor/Ensemble A young man trying to outgrow a reputation and imagine a different future. Tommy is sincere, emotional, and hopeful. Strong acting and chemistry required.
Vocal Range: Mezzo/Ensemble The mayor’s daughter. Bright, romantic, and full of momentum, Zaneeta is learning to make her own choices. Strong movement and ensemble presence encouraged.
Vocal Range: Spoken/Baritone A rival salesman determined to expose Harold Hill. Intense, theatrical, and relentless — more whistleblower than villain. A bold character role with strong storytelling.
