About the project: A delightfully witty valentine to the Golden Age of musicals, The Drowsy Chaperone bursts to life when a lonely theatre fan drops the needle on his favorite record and a musical extravaganza springs to life before his eyes! Dazzling dance numbers, bumbling gangsters, and a boozy chaperone fill the stage in this laugh-out-loud celebration of musical comedy. With terrific tunes, clever dialog, and irresistible charm, The Drowsy Chaperone is both a parody and a tribute to the joy of Broadway itself. Equal parts nostalgia and nonstop fun, it’s a sparkling love letter to the magic of theatre and those who adore it. Rate: All performers are guaranteed a $100 honorarium to cover the costs of transportation for rehearsals plus a $15 honorarium per performance. Note that this is strictly a non-union production. Additional info: Production information: Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, March 1. The production runs April 10 – May 10, 2026, with performances Friday – Saturday at 7pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. No conflicts with technical rehearsals or performance dates will be permitted.

Janet’s alcoholic confidante. Care-free, often because she is drunk. An experienced “woman of the world” who couldn’t care less what the world thinks. A melodramatic diva to be reckoned with who gleefully chews the scenery and steals just about every scene she is in. Great comedic role. Think Liza Minnelli meets Tallulah Bankhead. This role engages in moments of staged intimacy. Vocal range: Alto with strong belt (F3-D5)

Latin lothario. A womanizing cad who is very impressed with himself. He is confident, vigorous, and a buffoon. Vaudeville-style acting and fake Spanish/Italian accent required. Should have great comic timing. Preferably a Latin actor as originally cast. This role engages in moments of staged intimacy. Vocal range: Bass/Baritone + great falsetto (A#2-G4)

The brave and brash female aviator. She is sassy, sleek and a take charge kind of gal. Preferably an African American actor as originally cast. Vocal range: Alto (Ab3-Eb5)
