Actors and Extras for Upcoming Short Horror Film “Dead Soil”
Casting call for indie horror short “Dead Soil”. Seeking cast. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the roles below. About the project: Genre: Indie horror short – heavy on practical effects and in-camera gore. “DEAD SOIL”, a throwback to the gory, practical-effects-driven zombie classics of the 1980s, with full in-camera gore effects and old-school atmosphere. Rate: This is a credit-only project (unpaid), but all cast will receive full IMDb credit, on-set meals, and professional photos/video for your reel. Additional info: Filming will take place in Putnam County, NY. You must be able to travel or be local to the area. Directors are planning a 1-2 day shoot over a weekend in April of 2026. Sweet, grounded, and smart. Chris’s girlfriend. The emotional core of the group who becomes the film’s final girl.
Awkward but kindhearted. The quiet friend who tries to keep the peace. Has a romantic streak and hidden bravery.
Goth, witty, and sharp-tongued. Doesn’t scare easily, until the nightmare becomes real.
Laid-back stoner with a sense of humor. Loves weed, video games, and talking big, until the zombies show up.
Protective father figure. Practical, skeptical, and quick to act. Appears in the third act as a family patriarch.
Caring and cautious, a mother who tries to comfort Lisa before realizing what’s really happening.
Detailed makeup and prosthetic effects for close-up scenes. Must be comfortable with fake blood, latex appliances, and longer makeup sessions.
For crowd and chase scenes, lighter makeup or background masks. (Possibly more needed.)
