Description:

Touch Up is a short film about an immigrant family who are asked to act in a student film. As the father appears on the film set, their real struggles and hidden emotions begin to surface, blurring the line between acting and truth. Self-Tape (Preferred): You may submit a short self-tape (1–2 minutes). Video prompt: Tell a story about a recent event in your life. As you speak, imagine the interviewer asks a question that makes you uncomfortable. Let the story begin easily, but allow an internal tension to grow — leading to a pause or silence.

5 roles

MotherFemale40-50 y.o.All ethnicities

A quiet, emotionally complex woman. She appears calm and composed, yet carries deep, unspoken pain. Torn between obedience and suppressed anger, she often hides her emotions behind silence.

FatherMale40-50 y.o.All ethnicities

Pragmatic and restrained. He tries to maintain control over situations, but his silence often reveals more than his words. Beneath his composed exterior lies pride, frustration, and a quiet sense of defeat.

ChildBoth genders18-18 y.o.All ethnicities

Sensitive, observant, and mature for their age. The child’s gaze reveals the emotional truth of the family more than any words could.

Film DirectorBoth genders30-40 y.o.All ethnicities

Focused, ambitious, and quietly intense. The director tries to maintain a sense of control on set, balancing artistic vision with the chaos of a low-budget production. Though outwardly calm, they carry an undercurrent of urgency — aware of time, pressure, and the responsibility of interpreting someone else’s real-life struggle for the screen. Their attempts to direct the family reveal the limits of filmmaking as truth begins slipping beyond their control.

Actor playing the "Father"Male30-50 y.o.All ethnicities

An actor, eager to prove himself. He approaches the role with enthusiasm, but as he interacts with the real father, he becomes increasingly self-conscious. His confidence wavers between genuine curiosity and subtle insecurity.
