About the project: "A 17-year-old boy from the Bronx suddenly finds himself in a private school in New Hampshire. He's violent, gifted, alienated, and on fire with a ferocious loneliness. Two faculty members wrestle with the dilemma: Is the kid a star or a disaster? A passionate, explosive portrait of a young man on the verge of salvation or destruction." Additional info: Please come prepared with a monologue in the style of Prodigal Son, not exceeding 2 minutes in run time. Callbacks: Friday, January 16th, 2026, 7-10 pm. The headmaster of the school, a devout Catholic who is deeply conflicted by Jim's actions. He granted Jim a scholarship but is constantly debating whether to expel him due to his infractions.
Carl's wife and a compassionate poetry tutor for Jim. She admires Jim's talent and attempts to broaden his horizons, even as her husband grows more suspicious.
The head of the English department who takes Jim on as a special project, believing he has great potential. He has a thorny relationship with the boy and is sometimes seen as flawed.
