"Intimate Apparel" Stage Play in Need of Actors

Casting call for upcoming production of Lynn Nottage’s "Intimate Apparel." Seeking cast. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the details below. About the project: Synopsis: In 1905 New York City, Esther, an African American seamstress, is in great demand for the “intimate apparel” she creates for clients, who range from wealthy white patrons to sex workers. Though dreaming of a chance to save up enough money to buy her own beauty parlor, Esther remains lonely and longs for a true romance. Through a mutual acquaintance, she begins a correspondence with a lonesome Barbadian man, George, who persuades her to marry, sight unseen. However, Esther’s heart is also drawn to the Romanian Jewish shopkeeper from whom she buys cloth, and his heart with her. Can Esther’s skill with the needle find true love? Rate: Each actor will receive a one-time $100 stipend. Additional info: This is a non-equity production. Callbacks will be held January 16th and 18th. Rehearsals begin on Saturday, January 31st (in the evening on weekdays and during the day on weekends); tech rehearsal runs Feb 28th-March 6th; show runs March 7th-March 22nd, 2026.
