Theatre seeks a male-presenting actor to play the Greek God Apollo and other roles in "The Blue-Sky Boys", a fast-paced and fantasy-fueled theatrical spin on the inception of the Apollo Space Mission. About the project: SYNOPSIS: When President Kennedy vowed to put a man on the moon, the task landed in the hands of a band of maverick engineers—once the misfits of American science. With no rulebook, they embraced “blue-skying,” drawing inspiration from the Buck Rogers, Greek myths, Louis Leakey, and even Snoopy and the Red Baron. An exhilarating ride through the wild imagination that made one giant leap possible. Rate: LORT-D Non-Rep $839 weekly minimum, or higher commensurate with experience and size of the role. While the play is set in a NASA aerospace lab, it also lives in the realm of the imagination where anything and anyone can suddenly appear during the process of creation. All kinds of characters will come and go in this world, and in all manner of ways, whenever someone thinks of them. Theatre magic is encouraged here—to the max! Comedy too! APOLLO – Male-presenting. The Greek God with a contemporary twist. He’s grand but dumb as a brick, entitled and thoroughly self-involved… but strangely likeable. He loves his fast chariot and loves scaring his passengers even more. SNOOPY – Male presenting. The dog from the Peanuts cartoon strip, loves to torment the RED BARON. LOUIS LEAKEY – Male presenting. The British paleontologist who wrote extensively on prehistoric man in Africa, very knowledgeable on rocks. Has British dialect.
