"Prince of the Pulpit" - Theater Production
Vanessa Lynn’s Prince of the Pulpit is a limited-run, faith-based theatrical stage production presented as part of Parables Entertainment’s 20th Anniversary. The production will take place September 19–20, 2026 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, Michigan, and will be recorded during its live performances. The story follows Solid Ground Church as Bishop Aaron Baxter prepares to pass the mantle after forty years of leadership. Minister Jordan Sanders stands ready to lead—with his fiancée Noelle by his side—until the prodigal son, Trent Baxter, returns to reclaim his family legacy and a seat on the pulpit. As tensions rise, the congregation is forced to confront one question: who has truly been called, and who has entered the pulpit uninvited? Casting lead, supporting, and cameo roles in the Metro Detroit area. All lead, supporting, and cameo roles are paid.
4 roles
Trent Baxter (Af. Am., mid-thirties) – The prodigal son of Solid Ground Ministry. Raised in church, he strayed away and became a successful real estate mogul. Trent understands both “the world” and “the church,” making him equally charming, prophetic, and unpredictable. He is an extremely complex character with many layers, and the actor chosen must be fully committed to deep character study. Lead role
Brother Johny (Af. Am., early twenties) – Johnny is energetic, eager, impressionable, and idealistic — a true “homeboy” with a heart for the ministry. He serves as church adjutant, janitor, and all-around helper, bringing humor, youthful enthusiasm, and sincerity. Supporting Role.
Deacon Ivan (Af. Am., late fifties) – Practical, straightforward, and no-nonsense. A widower seeking companionship while upholding his duties as head of the church board. Ivan’s sense of humor and firm leadership bring balance and grounded maturity. Supporting Role.
Raven (Af. Am., mid-twenties) – Petite and pretty, soft-spoken and alluring. A follower and not a leader, Raven has an understated charm and quiet intensity but has not yet found her own identity. Supporting Role.
