About the project: Step inside Willy Wonka’s marvelous chocolate factory, where candy is sweeter, colors are brighter, and anything is possible! Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a spectacular musical filled with dazzling songs, whimsical sets, and unforgettable characters. Join Charlie Bucket and four other lucky golden ticket winners as they embark on a magical adventure through Wonka’s world of Oompa Loompas, wild inventions, and sweet surprises. Featuring classic songs like Pure Imagination alongside new show-stopping numbers, this delightful production is a treat for all ages. Don’t miss your chance to experience the wonder—secure your golden ticket today! Rate: Non-paid. Additional info: Please prepare a song (approx. 32 bars, or 60 - 90 seconds of music) in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided, so please bring sheet music for the accompanist to play. Performing with an accompanist is strongly preferred, but you may provide tracks if you do not have sheet music. Please note: Amplification will not be provided, and playing backing tracks off a cell phone (without proper additional amplification) is strongly discouraged. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, December 17, starting at 6 pm. Callback notifications will be sent out by Friday, December 12 by 5 pm. There will be a dance section of callbacks from 6pm - 7pm, with singing and sides to occur afterwards. Rehearsals will begin in January. Rehearsals will be based on both performer and production staff availability, so please submit all known conflicts at the time of auditions. The Milburn Stone Theatre traditionally rehearses between two and four times a week. If interested, please apply.

(Vocal Range: A2 to G4, Baritone/Tenor): The sly, charming, and eccentric star of the show. He possesses a larger-than-life persona that can shift from charismatic and comical to magically mysterious and dark in an instant.
(Vocal Range: G#3 to F5, Tenor/Boy Soprano): The protagonist and emotional heart of the story. He is sweet, smart, hopeful, and loving, representing wonderful innocence, integrity, and vulnerability. This role is strongly preferred to be played by an actor under the age of 16. Due to the demands of the role, Charlie will likely be double-cast (two actors sharing performances).
The Bucket Family (Vocal Range: G#2 to G4, Baritone): Impish, imaginative, and full of life. He is Charlie's kind and loving grandfather, his greatest champion, and his partner in adventure. Though bedridden, his youthful energy and spirit return the moment the Golden Ticket is found.
The Bucket Family (Vocal Range: G3 to E5, Mezzo-Soprano): Charlie's warm, kind-hearted, and relentlessly nurturing mother. Despite the extreme poverty and the demands of caring for four aging parents, she remains generous, loving, and practical, always striving to maintain a positive outlook for her family.

The Golden Ticket Winners and Their Parents (Vocal Range: Bb3 to D5, Alto/Mezzo-Soprano): Augustus's German, over-the-top and dramatically serious mother. She is naïve and hopelessly overindulgent, convinced her son's gluttony is a virtue. Preferred to be played with a German accent.
The Golden Ticket Winners and Their Parents (Vocal Range: Ab4 to Db5, Mezzo-Soprano): A vicious, determined, and utterly spoiled Russian ballerina heiress. Requires strong ballet experience. Preferred to be played with a Russian accent.
The Golden Ticket Winners and Their Parents (Vocal Range: Ab2 to Ab4, Baritone): Veruca's hilarious, eccentric Russian oligarch father. He is entirely run by his daughter's demands and so blinded by his love for her that he gives in to every whim. Preferred to be played with a Russian accent.
The Golden Ticket Winners and Their Parents (Vocal Range: C#4 to F#5, Mezzo-Soprano/Belt): Confident, forward, and competitive. She is an obsessive gum-chewer and a world champion, budding influencer, and pop star.
The Golden Ticket Winners and Their Parents (Vocal Range: F#3 to G4, Baritone): Violet's father. He is ineffectual, competitive, and clearly out of his depth, trying (and failing) to manage his daughter's intense ambition and massive ego.
The Golden Ticket Winners and Their Parents (Vocal Range: G3 to Bb4, Tenor/Baritenor): An iPad kid and a fireplug with a ridiculous amount of energy. He is a technology-obsessed, bratty, blunt, and loud computer hacker with an aggressive attitude.
The Golden Ticket Winners and Their Parents (Vocal Range: G3 to Eb5, Mezzo-Soprano/Alto): Tense, extreme, and hilarious. She is an overwhelmed mother who struggles to cope with her son, often appearing stuck in the 1950s/1960s era in her demeanor and style.
Featured and Ensemble Role A poor, second-hand vegetable seller. She is a shrewd, practical businesswoman and a bit eccentric, yet remains kind-hearted and warm, providing a small, positive contrast in Charlie's harsh environment.
Featured and Ensemble Role A local news anchor/reporter. He is often a wacky, quick-witted reporter full of energetic enthusiasm.
Featured and Ensemble Role A local field reporter. She is a zany, quick-witted reporter who is "on the scene" for all the Golden Ticket winner announcements.
Ensemble Role Will be staged and costumed in a non-traditional way.

Ensemble Role Dancing for the Townspeople, Reporters, and Oompa Loompas is minimal and does not require extensive dance training. Strong singing and presence are essential for all these ensemble roles.
