About the project: "The Mermaid" Experience is one of the most cherished events — a sparkling celebration of magic, imagination, and the joyful wonder of water in all its forms. This year, our world transforms into a vibrant Mermaids Carnival, filled with color, movement, and enchantment. Rate: These are paid, non-union positions. Additional information: Dates include orientation, practice dives, Mermaid Gala, and all event performances: March 11-22, 2026 There will also be one content collection day prior to the event. (Date TBD). Location: Brockville, Ontario. Performers must be available March 11-22, 2026. Application Deadline: December 10th, 2025. Requirements: Full availability to be in Brockville, Ontario from March 11 - 22, 2026; Your own mermaid costuming, including your tail, make up and all accessories Silicone tails are preferred and will receive priority consideration. However, performers with fabric tails are still encouraged to apply—you may still be selected. Minimum two years of experience swimming in a tail and performing as a mermaid. Experience performing on land and interacting with children; PADI Mermaid Certification and/or Freediver Certification (or equivalent); Police background check from within the last year and valid throughout the event; Once selected, performers will be required to complete additional training sessions, both solo and in-person, as part of team preparation for the event. What directors provide during the Event: Comfortable shared accommodations throughout the duration of your contract; Performer Insurance; A supportive, collaborative work environment; The opportunity to perform for and engage with families in a high-energy, joy-filled event. When applying, please submit the following: 1. Head shot: A clear photo of yourself, either in mermaid character or as your natural self. 2. Video Links YouTube links are preferred for ease of viewing, though any accessible format is welcome. Personal Introduction: A brief video of you out of character, sharing who you are, where you’re based, how long you have been mermaiding, your experience both in and out of the water, your certifications, and what inspires your love of being a mermaid. Underwater Performance: A video showcasing you swimming in your tail and performing in character, demonstrating both your comfort in the water and your ability to bring your mer-persona to life. On-Land Performance: A video of you performing on land—this might include engaging with children, telling a story, greeting guests, or otherwise showing the charm, warmth, and personality you bring to your mermaid character.

The mermaids perform both underwater (in our tanks among real aquatic animals) and on land, where they interact with guests in character — signing autographs, posing for photos, answering curious questions, and spinning tales from the deep. When not performing, mermaids will join the “mer-support” team, helping their fellow performers with safety, costume prep, and smooth transitions between shows.
