About the project: A sharply funny and unsettling play about small-town politics, secrets, and the stories we choose to tell — and hide. The Minutes is part satire, part thriller, and 100% timely. Additional info: Performances: Feb 13-15 and Feb 20, 21 What to Prepare: Nothing. Cold readings from the script will be provided. Please Note: Actors of any race or ethnicity are welcome in all roles. An actor of color is preferred for the role of Mr. Blake. Gender-blind casting will be utilized for all roles. (25-35)The newest council member and a newcomer to town. As close to a protagonist as there is in the show. Curious, determined, and a bit headstrong.
(50-60) - The mayor and head of the city council. A warm and welcoming presence with a firm grasp and control of the team. He knows how to play the game. Authoritative, folksy, and self-righteous
(30-40) - The city clerk responsible for maintaining minutes of every detail of every meeting. Cautious, meticulous, and assertive
(40s-60s) - A council member who can talk the talk, often motivated by what serves him best. Smooth, outlandish, and calculating
(mid 30s-50s)- A council member that looks out for what will help the town the most, often trying and failing. Well intentioned, verbose, and passionate
(40s-60s) A council member closely aligned with Mayor Superba. Opinionated, self-aggrandizing, and dismissive
(40s-60s)- Mayor Superba’s other major ally on the council. Aggressive, confrontational and a bully
(60+) - The second-longest-serving member of the council. Focuses only on her agenda items.
(35-45)- A flight and distracted member of the council that struggles to complete her actionable items. Unaware, erratic, and in her head
(65+) - The longest-serving member of the council with a bit of a temper. He often finds himself rambling over minute details. Testy, long-winded, and constant
(40s-60s) - Missing for much of the play, a council member that is seemingly missing. Truthful, well-intentioned, and diligent.
