"Little Shop of Horrors" Musical Needs Cast
"Little Shop of Horrors" show casting actors. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: "Seymour works at a run-down Skid Row florist shop. His hidden love for coworker Audrey is in full bloom, so when a mysterious Venus flytrap-like plant appears, Seymour names it Audrey II in her honor. When he accidentally discovers that the plant thrives on blood, suddenly Seymour has another secret. But this one may come back to bite him. This campy, black-comedy musical takes you somewhere that’s green – and gleefully gruesome. Don’t feed the plants!" Additional info: It is only necessary to attend one night of auditions. - Please prepare 16-32 measures (no longer than two minutes) of a musical theatre song that best shows your vocal range and who you are as a performer, as well as a one-minute monologue. You also may choose a 16-measure segment from one of the song cuts from the show, which those who are called back will be asked to prepare. However, that is not necessary for the first round and will not give any priority for audition decisions. An accompanist will be provided. No recorded accompaniment or a cappella auditions will be allowed. You must bring printed, legible music or be able to AirDrop a PDF to the accompanist. - Please dress appropriately for the dance/movement portion of the audition (no sandals, flip-flops, or open-toed shoes). An insecure, put-upon florist’s clerk and eventual hero. He is a genuine, well-meaning man who is taken for granted because of his clumsy ways and poor social skills. Vocal range: A2-G4.
The ditzy, secret love of Seymour's life. She has poor self-worth and education, but incredibly good looks and a sweet and vulnerable demeanor. New York accent. Vocal range: G#3- D5.
The seasoned owner of the failing East Side flower shop and Seymour's nosy boss. He is profit-driven, greedy, and manipulative. Vocal range: G2-F4.
An egotistical dentist with a passion for leather and sadistic tendencies. Audrey's abusive boyfriend, who is targeted by Seymour after seeing him smack Audrey around. Doubles as the three characters in “The Meek Shall Inherit” in Act Two. Vocal range: G2-G4.
Puppeteer. An anthropomorphic cross between a Venus flytrap and an avocado, the plant has an appetite for human flesh that is appeased by Seymour. Puppeteer doubles as other sizes of the plant and can double as Skid Row homeless singer but does not have to.
An actor/vocalist located offstage, with the voice of a conniving, street-smart “villain.” A funky R&B voice is best. Vocal range: G2-G4.
