In need of performers for the "Weat" show. Please see more details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: WEAT is a masterful depiction of the forces that divide and conquer us. Yet along with the rage, despair and violence, there’s humor and abundant humanity. It is an emotional story of what happens when you don’t know how to resist and provides a cautionary tale to all of us in the changing political, social and economic climate. Eddie (Eddie Carbone)Male38-42 y.o.All ethnicities

Primary Roles Italian-American, Brooklyn longshoreman. Central tragic character. “As good a man as he had to be in a life that was hard and even.” Always strives to do the “right” thing, has a strong moral code (by his own lights), and sets great store in his “good name”, but is also a deeply flawed individual. Suffers from common unthinking prejudices of his time and social environment (Chauvinism, homophobia…), and is almost completely unself-aware.

Beatrice (Beatrice Carbone)Female35-40 y.o.All ethnicities

Primary Roles Italian-American. Devoted wife of Eddie and mother figure to her niece, Catherine. More perceptive than her husband. Frequently plays mediator between Eddie, Catherine and her illegal immigrant cousins.

RudolphoMale20-24 y.o.All ethnicities

Primary Roles Italian. The younger of Beatrice’s illegal immigrant cousins, whom Eddie has invited to stay in his home. Noted for being blonde, singing, ability to cook, and comic demeanor. Full of the joy of life, and eager for the glamorous “opportunity” of America. Develops an immediate, strong romantic attraction to Catherine.

MarcoMale25-35 y.o.All ethnicities

Primary Roles Italian. The elder of Beatrice’s illegal immigrant cousins; Rudolpho’s darker, brooding elder brother. In America solely to earn enough money to feed his wife and three children back in Italy. Powerful, strong, “works like a bull”, lifts a chair straight up by one hand holding the bottom of a single (chair) leg. Very protective of Rudolpho.

AlfieriMale50-59 y.o.All ethnicities

Primary Roles Could easily be played by/as a woman. Lawyer. Born in Italy, but has lived in this country (legally) since the age of 25. Functions both as narrator (providing the “View” of the play’s title) and as a participant in the action (serving as confidant and the arbiter of the Law).

Secondary Role Fellow dockworkers of Eddie. Could easily cast women in either role.
