Additional info: Performances: February 6 through 22, 2026 Auditions will consist of reading from the script - no preparation necessary. Rehearsal schedule will be distributed at auditions - rehearsals are typically 6:30 - 8:30 pm weeknights beginning December 8. Please note: Sweat is rated R for language and mild violence.

Main Character A white factory worker in her forties whose family has worked at the Olstead’s plant for generations. She is proud of her work but becomes bitter and makes racially charged comments after being passed over for a promotion.
An African American factory worker and close friend of Tracey’s. She takes the management job to provide for her family, which puts her in a difficult position when management and workers clash.
Tracey’s son and Chris’s best friend. After losing his job and going to prison, he emerges as an angry young man with white supremacist tattoos on his face.
Cynthia’s son and Jason’s best friend, with aspirations of going to college. He gets involved in the fight with Oscar and is incarcerated with Jason.
The friendly bartender and a former factory worker who lost a leg in a work-related accident. He acts as the moral center and tries to keep the peace among the friends.
A young Colombian American busboy who desperately seeks a better job and crosses the picket line at the factory, leading to the climactic confrontation.
A white, Italian American co-worker and friend of Tracey and Cynthia who struggles with alcohol addiction.
Chris’s father and Cynthia’s estranged husband. He struggles with drug addiction and homelessness after being locked out from his own factory job years earlier.
An African American parole officer in 2008 who tries to help Chris and Jason reintegrate into society.
