About the play: In 1955 a small, sleepy town in middle America is shaken with the arrival of a charismatic, guitar playing roustabout. Through the power of rock and roll the town is transformed and the residents’ lives changed forever. Heavily inspired by Shakespeare’s comedies the show is filled with laughs, love, disguises and 25 powerfully orchestrated Elvis hits. Additional information: Performances are March 13th - 15th & 20th - 22nd. Callbacks by invitation only if needed on Sunday December 14th – to be scheduled beginning at 1 pm. Audition Requirements: Please prepare a 32-bar cut of an up-tempo, modern Broadway selection. Following your vocal selection a cold read will be required. A dance call will take place on the day of your audition. The 20-minute block will either be before or after you sing and read. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes to move. There will be a basic movement combination for all participants and a more advanced dance combination for those wishing to be considered for lead roles or the dance corps. (F#2-A4) a charismatic, motorcycling, guitar-playing, leather-jacketed roustabout. Note that this character is NOT an Elvis impersonation. Dance Skills an asset.
(Bb2-F#4) Natalie’s widowed father. Moves well.
(F3-F5) the no-nonsense, owner of SYLVIA’S HONKY-TONK. Moves Well.
A2 – Bb4. a young, awkward, aspiring dentist, a romantic and poetic soul. Dance skills an asset.
(E3-F5) the beautiful, intellectual caretaker of the town’s museum. Dance skills an asset but moves well.
(Bb3-C6) the town’s conservative mayor.
The law in town. Not a man of many words. Earl has been Matilda’s enforcer and support and though he often tries to get a word in he doesn’t until the final and most opportune moment. Will likely double as an Ensemble member.
Ensemble performers with enhanced dancing skills who will be featured in the heavier dance breaks as well as the ensemble numbers. Aiming to cast equal vocal parts across the group. Must audition with both dance combos to be considered for this corps.
