Actors needed for short film "MENtal". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the roles below. About the project: Drama ~20 min. A chance encounter forces a man to confront the emotional walls he built to survive and the cost of keeping them up too long. Rate: Unpaid. Crafty & food provided. Gas stipend available. Additional info: Directorial debut and hoping to submit this to film festivals. Non-union. Availability: December–January. Location: South Florida. LEAD. A man raised to believe strength means silence. Thinks he’s a “good guy,” but his love is tangled in pride. Quick with jokes, allergic to accountability. Vibe: Defensive, prideful, occasionally funny without meaning to be. Energy: The good man who never learned how to be good. Character references: Lawrence and Nathan tendencies (Insecure).
LEAD. Self-aware, grounded, and finally done explaining what should be obvious. Once mistook caretaking for love; now she knows peace doesn’t require pain. Vibe: Grounded, mature, warm but firm. Energy: “I’m not angry, I’m just done.” Character references: A mix of Lena (A Different World), Nina (Love Jones), and Olivia Pope (Scandal).
SUPPORTING. Lyssa’s best friend and Tyrone’s cousin. The calm in the storm, honest, nurturing, never fake. Vibe: Honest, nurturing, no-nonsense. Energy: “I love you enough to tell you the truth.” Character references: A mix of Kelli Prenny and Molly (Insecure), Joan and Maya (Girlfriends).
