About the project: “I Don’t Like Di.k” is a 7-minute short where an insistent male suitor provokes a straight drag queen into a performance of murder. Rate: Non-union, unpaid. Craft + copy of film + IMDB credit will be provided. Additional information: Dates: TWO DAYS OF November 11, 13, 14, 15. Location: Downtown Toronto. Submission deadline: November 1st. 7 minute queer drama short with heavily stylized dialogue. LGBTQ+ folks + those with previous drag experience highly encouraged to apply. SUPPORTING CAST: A drag queen (lead character)’s manager/personal assistant/bouncer/security. All rounder, jolly guy, helpful and a great problem solver. Big brother/father type caring. No specific visual requirements for this character. Female actors will also be considered.
Secondary lead. A feminine-presenting gay man. Circe's admiring audience member, suitor, and set crew member for the show. Insistent, flirtatious, and bold, and won't take no for an answer. Medium-long hair, soft features, tall (preferable, not necessary). This role includes predatory tones and close contact with primary lead.
Male-passing. Lead. A straight drag queen who's built her drag persona on performing murder scenes. Abrasive, cold, distant, controlled, dominant, and cruel. Short hair, sharp features, looks cishet male out of drag. This role includes a drag performance, smoking, the f-slur, mild violence and close contact with secondary lead, all of which can be discussed depending on the actor's comfort level. All costuming and makeup will be provided.
