Santi is dependable and steady, the glue that holds the group together. Calm and level-headed, he’s the one everyone turns to when things get tense. But Santi carries a quiet burden — a growing fear about his family’s future that he hides from the others. When pushed to his breaking point, his composed exterior cracks, revealing deep anger and pain. Soccer experience preferred. LEAD
Sebas is the loudest voice on and off the field. He’s mischievous, talkative, and always stirring the pot. Underneath his bravado is a fiercely loyal friend who masks his feelings with sarcasm. Sebas brings energy to every scene, but he can also explode when tensions rise. LEAD.
Kal’s cousin born in Mexico, living with Kal’s family to get away from the violence in his home state. While his lighter complexion placed him in a higher level of privilege within the colorist Mexican society, his lack of documentation in the U.S. eventually leads him to fear going out, much to the amusement and ridicule of Sebas. The class clown of the group. Quick with a joke, especially at his friends’ expense, but never in a mean-spirited way. Soccer experience preferred. LEAD.
Second generation Mexican-American, born and raised in L.A. Despite facing the many usual forms of discrimination, he feels generally safe in his community, often turning a blind eye to social injustices and focusing on his passion for soccer. Ikal is intense, focused, and fiercely competitive. He’s the most skilled player on the field and plays like he has something to prove — because he does. LEAD
Rob is Mexican-American and slightly more Americanized than the others, which sometimes makes him the target of jokes. He’s chill and easygoing, often caught between different identities and cultures. Rob isn’t the most skilled player, but he’s passionate about the game and his friends. The most observant of the group, he notices tensions before anyone else. Soccer experience is helpful but not mandatory. LEAD.
