About the project: In this new musical, an anthropologist studying a reality dating show expects to stay safely above the fray. Instead, she discovers she's been made a contestant - and the bachelor is her high school crush. The theme of the past's grip on the present is echoed in the use of vintage musical styles selected for maximum irony. The Perfect Man is a cultural satire, a woman's-journey story, a big-hearted romantic comedy, and a love letter to classic Broadway, all wrapped in the guilty pleasure of a reality-TV binge. Come and be part of its premiere at the beautiful Gargoyle Theatre. Rate: This is a paid opportunity. Equity members will be given priority; submissions from non-Equity performers are welcome. Additional information: Rehearsals begin April 13, 2026. Performance run: May 5-17, 2026. An anthropology prof with a wry sense of humour that she uses to hide her vulnerability. Under pressure, she can retreat into the intellect and appear stand-offish; however, the audience must be able to see the warmth underneath. Voice type: Warm mezzo-soprano with lovely (non-belted) higher notes
A seductive "mean girl" (and dance instructor) who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. But there's pain under her facade too. Intimacy required. Stephanie is double-cast with Danielle, a bachelorette who does not catch on quickly. Voice type: Big alto/mezzo-soprano belt.
A perky, cute kindergarten teacher, who hasn't yet figured out that she prefers women. Intimacy required. Voice type: Light and jazzy. Vocal range: G3 to A5. Songs/Sides: Please prepare the REESE songs and sides in Google Drive.
A butch fitness trainer with a big mouth and a bigger heart. Intimacy required. Voice type: Strong mezzo/alto (with excellent pitch on a harmony line). Vocal range: G3 to E5.
A zany bachelorette with multiple health issues and no boundaries. Becky is double-cast with Miroslava, a flamboyant celebrity romance guru with a central or eastern European accent.
A sweet, brainy zoologist turned slightly awkward reality-TV host. There's a refinement to his awkwardness that calls to mind Hugh Grant rom-coms. Intimacy required. Voice type: Warm baritenor/second tenor. Vocal range: G2 to E4.
