When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up. The power of optimism really can save the world! The SpongeBob Musical is based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg and features a book by Kyle Jarrow, with original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I., and songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley. Additional lyrics are by Jonathan Coulton, with additional music by Tom Kitt. The musical production was conceived by Tina Landau. An exciting new musical featuring irresistible characters and magical music, this deep-sea pearl of a show is set to make a splash with audiences young and old. Note: All roles require strong comedic timing, energy, and the ability to embody the quirky, optimistic tone of Bikini Bottom! Singing, movement, and character work are essential. Performance dates: SpongeBob will be performed on March 7 and 8, 2026 with a mandatory tech weekend on Feb. 28 and March 1, 2026. Rehearsals will take place on Sunday afternoons beginning Nov. 9 until show weekend — with a break over Thanksgiving and Christmas. Full rehearsal schedules will be confirmed upon casting. Must be a strong singer, physical comedian, and mover with boundless energy. Traits: Positive, loyal, excitable, sincere, fearless in his belief that he can save the day.
Vocal Range: Tenor (Bb2–Bb4). Description: SpongeBob’s loyal but dim-witted best friend. Simple-minded but full of heart. Has a surprising wisdom that appears in unexpected moments. Traits: Lovable, goofy, and childlike; must have strong comic timing and a genuine warmth.
Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano with belt (A3–E5). Description: A tough-as-nails Texan scientist and inventor. Smart, brave, and confident, with a deep love for her friends and Bikini Bottom. Traits: Athletic, determined, intelligent; strong singer and mover. Martial arts or acrobatics a plus.

Loves the arts (especially clarinet and dance), but feels perpetually underappreciated. Traits: Dry humor, eye rolls, and flair for the dramatic. Must be a strong tap dancer and comedian.
Vocal Range: Baritone (B2–B4). Description: The money-obsessed owner of the Krusty Krab. Gruff and comical with a pirate-like accent. Has a soft spot for his daughter, Pearl. Traits: Loud, commanding, stingy but lovable; comedic character actor.
