Singing Audition for "School of Rock" Play
Looking to cast males and females for "School of Rock" show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Dewey Finn, an out-of-work rock singer and guitarist pretends to be a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. After identifying their musical talent, Dewey forms a band of students, in an attempt to win the upcoming Battle of the Bands contest. Additional info: Callbacks - Wednesday, November 19 and Thursday, November 20 By Invitation Only Performance Dates: February 7 - 28, 2026 What to sing: For anyone 13 or younger: 32 bars of a rock or pop song. For adults: 32 bars in the style of the show. What to read: Please choose one of the provided scenes to read at auditions. A reader will be provided. Please note: the roles of Dewey, Zack, Lawrence, Katie, or Freddy will require playing an instrument on stage. Please refer to the character descriptions as to what instrument is required of which character. If you do not play that instrument already, you may still be considered for these roles. Callbacks will include a workshop with instruments to determine level of skill and trainability. If interested, please apply.

Onstage Guitar, Rock Tenor (B2-E5) I wannabe rockstar with big dreams. Historically a free loader, Dewey finds himself in urgent need of some cash after getting kicked out of his band. He impersonates a teacher to land a job at the prestigious Horace Green Prep School, where he turns his class of straight-A students into a rock group and enters them in the Battle of the Bands
Soprano (A3-D6) Proper and a bit uptight, Rosalie is the headmistress of Horace Green School, and seen as a figure of terror by the students. However, she cares deeply and doesn't realize how her demeanor might seem cold. She has a secret love of rock music, and yearns to recapture the carefree spirit of her youth.
Baritone (C3-F#4) Ned is an old friend of Dewey's, and the two currently share an apartment with Ned's girlfriend, Patty. He used to play in Dewey's band, but is now a substitute teacher - who Dewey impersonates to get the job at Horace Green. Ned is still passionate about his music, but tends to let his bossy girlfriend Patty tell him what to do.
Belter (B3-E5) Mezzo-Soprano/ Ned's domineering girlfriend, who lives with Ned and Dewey. She is extremely pragmatic and calls the shots in their relationship. She isn't too happy about Dewey's presence in their apartment - or his influence on Ned.
