Genre: Drama/Comedy Logline - During closing hours at the House of Puerto Rico, a restless teen eager to leave for a date is interrupted by an elder whose story of the coquí and a goddess’s love challenges her impatience and rekindles her sense of empathy and cultural connection. Short Synopsis - The Coquí Sings is a heartfelt short film set in San Diego’s House of Puerto Rico. Ana, a lively sixteen-year-old, can’t wait to sneak out early to meet a boy who has finally texted her. When Sandra, a warm and curious Puerto Rican elder, wanders in at closing time, Ana must choose between impatience and empathy. Through Sandra’s story of her late husband, a Coast Guardsman who rescued her family during Hurricane Hugo, and the legend of the Taíno goddess who turned her lost love into a coquí frog, Ana rediscovers compassion, culture, and connection. What begins as a simple inconvenience becomes a quiet exchange between generations, a moment where the past softly sings to the present. Rate: Paid.
