Arab, Bilingual preferred. Rasheed has a charming, warm exterior to cover for the fact that he has an abusive girlfriend that he's attached to. He's friendly and has an inviting smile to everybody, but is aware that his new best friend, Stef, feels like an outsider. He feels indebted to her kindness & patience, and as such, he's especially gentle with her. Requires light intimacy, such as brief kissing and hugging, with the Maria character.
Stef's former high school bully, her mean-spirited humor and 'pretty-and-I-know-it' attitude comes with expectations at the table, but little do they know that she has since matured. Having gained self-awareness, she takes a liking to Stef's maturity and seeks to make amends, somehow. She feels partial responsibility that her cousin, Maria, has been emotionally manipulating Rasheed.
Maria can get anything she wants out of life and treats every relationship like it's temporary. Her narcissistic personality mixed with her magnetic charisma makes her the center of attention, yet it chips away at those around her. She's calm and well-collected, but some may mistake that for being calculated and strategic. Requires light intimacy, such as brief kissing and hugging, with the Rasheed character.
He's three years out of high school but is a walking time capsule of the era, unchanging in how he speaks. He employs a liberal, or problematic, use of AAVE (African-American Vernacular English) as part of his sense of humor. He'll take any opportunity to throw in a light jab or interject into conversations.
Diana is a year younger than the graduates, and feels like she has to prove herself. She's teased by the guys at the table, making her feel very defensive.
Additional Character. Tommy is James' best friend and offsets his edgy sense of humor with being the only person able to call him out. He's lost a bit of weight (either fat or muscle) since high school, yet he keeps on to his ill-fitting clothes.
