"Brigadoon" Musical Searching for Performers
Actors for production of "Brigadoon". ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. See the details below. About the project: Synopsis: While hunting in the Scottish Highlands, contemporary New Yorker Tommy Albright stumbles upon the picturesque village of Brigadoon, which seems like a place out of time. There, Tommy falls in love — not just with a beautiful lass named Fiona, but with the village itself. Only then does he discover Brigadoon's secret: the town appears once every 100 years, for a single day, and will soon vanish into the mist. Will Tommy choose to return to his life in the modern world … or remain in enchanted Brigadoon, forever? Additional info: Be prepared to sing no more than 32 bars of a song from the show, or in a style similar to that of the show. 24 roles
(female presenting, soprano [B3-A5]). A grounded, intelligent Scottish woman. Independent and courageous, she loves her land and family deeply. Unlike a stock ingénue, Fiona is strong-willed and discerning. A no-nonsense older sister who is looking to find an equal partner in life. Needs sincerity, natural warmth, and inner strength. Dance: Some dance/movement; grace and presence important. Must move comfortably in group ceilidh or social dances.
(male presenting, baritone [B2-F#4]). A New Yorker disillusioned with modern life. Practical yet yearning for something more authentic and meaningful. His journey is discovering his true self in Brigadoon. Almost certainly a newly minted veteran of WWII. Genuine and relatable; not a traditional “hero” type but rather someone who finds courage in stillness. Dance: Minimal, must move well. Must move comfortably in group ceilidh or social dances.
(male presenting, sometimes sings with the ensemble). Tommy’s cynical, sardonic best friend. Comic relief but with depth—his dry wit masks loneliness and vulnerability. A WWII veteran, just like Tommy. Needs strong timing and presence. Dance: Minimal. Should be physically expressive. Must move comfortably in group ceilidh or social dances.
(female presenting, alto [G3-F5]). Bold, flirtatious milkmaid. Earthy, humorous, and comfortable in her own skin. Not ditzy or dumb. Provides comic energy, especially opposite Jeff. Strong comedic instincts. Dance: Moves well, comedic physicality. Must move comfortably in group ceilidh or social dances.
(female presenting, sings soprano or alto with the ensemble). Fiona’s younger sister, sweet and shy, but with a spark of youthful joy. She represents innocence and the hope of the village. Poised, radiant. Dance: Strong dancer. Featured in ceilidh and wedding dances.
(male presenting, tenor [D3-G4]). Jean’s fiancé, who has just returned to Brigadoon after graduating from the university in Edinburgh. The life of the party, romantic, and optimistic. Everyone’s best friend in town. Effortlessly charming. Dance: Strong dancer. Featured in ceilidh and wedding dances.
(male presenting, sings with ensemble). Intense, brooding, passionate. Feels trapped by Brigadoon’s constraints and his unrequited love for Jean. A tragic figure whose desperation drives central conflict. Emotional volatility and physicality are key. Dance: Strong dancer; can be featured in sword dance/Highland sequences. Must move comfortably in group ceilidh or social dances.
(sings with ensemble). The village schoolmaster who explains the miracle of Brigadoon. Wise, warm, and mystical, embodying the folklore of Scotland. Gravitas and storytelling ability essential. (Please note that we welcome any age-appropriate actors to audition for Lundie, but the character will be presented as male.) Dance: Minimal; must move comfortably in group ceilidh or social dances.
(male presenting, sings with ensemble). Jean & Fiona's father. A hearty, good-natured Scottish father. Proud of his daughters, loves the traditions of the Highlands. A presence in village life. Warmth and humor important. Dance: Minimal; must move comfortably in group ceilidh or social dances.
(male presenting, sings with ensemble). Harry’s father. Stern, proud, and protective of his family. Strong presence in dramatic moments. Dance: Minimal; must move comfortably in group ceilidh or social dances.
(female presenting, sings with the ensemble in 1st act). Tommy’s fiancée from New York; glamorous but untouchable. The exact opposite of Fiona and Brigadoon. Speaking role. Appears only in the penultimate scene but may be part of general ensemble earlier. Dance: None as Jane; must move comfortably in group ceilidh or social dances if double cast in the ensemble.
