About the project: Try/Step/Trip is a concept musical performed through the choreographic language of step. Inspired by playwright Dahlak Brathwaite’s personal history, the show follows a young Black man navigating a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program. Music, step, spoken word, and hip-hop storytelling blend in this 80-minute rite of passage. Rate: $793/week + $30/week per additional role covered. Additional info: Non-Equity. Location: New York City area local hire. Required skills/backgrounds: dance, rap/hip-hop, singing (solo/choral). Recommended skills/backgrounds: percussive/rhythmic, step, impersonations/accents, music production. Callbacks: held virtually. Rehearsals: December 1–19, 2025; January 3–4, 2026 (subject to change). Tech: January 5–7, 2026. Performances: January 8 – February 1, 2026. Seeking 2–3 dynamic, versatile performers to serve as understudies for the entire production. These actors should demonstrate strength across acting, rap/hip-hop, dance/step, and singing, and will be assigned multiple tracks as needed.
