About the project: Counting Crows is a short drama that follows Diane, a lonely housewife whose attempts to keep her family close are met with indifference and neglect from her husband and teenage daughter. When crows begin destroying her beloved garden, her frustration with the birds mirrors the quiet unraveling of her home life. This film is about finding purpose, needing to be needed and unconditional love. Rate: This is a paid opportunity. Actors will receive a stipend of $150/ day in addition to credit, copy, and craft services. Transportation will be covered to and from the set. Additional info: Shoots for 5-6 days between November 21st and November 26th in Chester County (60 minutes outside of Philadelphia). Diane is a dedicated housewife to her daughter and husband. She cooks, cleans, etc. As her child has gotten more independent, she has less to do. She feels lonely and aimless sans her garden, which is her pride and joy. Diane is an avid gardener in every season; she loves being able to get so much harvest from her garden. She also loves her daughter more than anything in the world.
Charles is newly retired. He is tired, slow, and has grown somewhat indifferent towards his wife. An academic type, more interested in his reading than in his wife. Charles loves his daughter, and as she has gotten older, they have become closer and closer. He loves to show her new books to read, and they enjoy teasing Diane, his wife. Charles is a scruffy type, doesn't love to comb his hair or tuck in his shirts, and his guilty pleasure is a cigar every once in a while.
