The company is holding auditions for musical "Applause" and looking for performers, please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. About the project: The story centers on aging star Margo Channing, who innocently takes a fledgling actress under her wing, unaware that the ruthless Eve is plotting to steal her career and possibly her man. The original 1970 Broadway production was nominated for ten Tony Awards and ultimately won four: the overall production won the Tony Award for Best Musical, Lauren Bacall won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, and Ron Field won both the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical and the Tony Award for Best Choreography. Additional info: Performances will be held on June 5th* (invited dress,) 7th, 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th. The readthrough will take place in early March 2025. (Mezzo-Soprano) a seemingly shy, polite young woman who idolizes Margo. At first, she appears humble, sweet, and starstruck, but underneath she is cunning, ambitious, and manipulative. Eve will do whatever it takes to achieve fame, even if it means betraying those who trusted her.
(Tenor) a successful, good-hearted director, devoted to Margo both professionally and romantically. He is steady, loyal, and grounded—serving as a stabilizing force amid the theatrical chaos around him.
(Spoken Role, no singing) a powerful Broadway producer. Smooth, calculating, and practical, he prioritizes success and business over loyalty. He recognizes Eve’s ambition and is quick to align himself with the rising star.
(Mezzo-Soprano) a brash, fun-loving chorus dancer at the club. She represents the vitality, youth, and appetite for life that Margo both admires and fears losing.
(Tenor) a witty, somewhat sardonic playwright, married to Karen. He is part of Margo’s inner circle and appreciates both her brilliance and her temper. Buzz provides comic relief with sharp observations about show business.
(Alto) Margo’s close friend and the wife of playwright Buzz Richards. Warm, sophisticated, and well-meaning, Karen tries to balance loyalty to Margo with compassion for Eve, only to find herself caught in the middle of betrayal and rivalry.
(Baritone) Margo’s trusted hairstylist and confidant. Duane is campy, flamboyant, and quick with a quip. Loyal to Margo, he often serves as her sounding board and brings energy and humor to the show.
(All Voice Parts) The ensemble act as both cherished fans and harsh critics of Margo Channing. They are also fellow actors, dancers, and singers who are trying to rise to fame.
