Description:

ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking an actress for production "Monkey Got a Gun". Please, see the details are below. About the project: "Monkey Got a Gun" is a short film that explores the subject of school shootings and the individuals who perpetrate. In our case we follow the character of Even, a troubled young man living at home with his mother Nancy, as he gets ready to make the transition of moving to another town. We wanted to explore these topics from a grounded and non cliche perspective avoiding the typical tropes in "killer" focused narratives. The film in its style is gritty and raw in many ways, taking influence from directors like Harmony Korine and Larry Clark, with a great emphasis on improv and candid photography. Rate: Non-Union. Volunteer. Additional information: SHOOT/PERFORMANCE DATE(S) November 9, 10, 11. SHOOT/PERFORMANCE LOCATION(S) White Rock BC. SUBMISSION DEADLINE October 31, 2025. When applying, please submit a head shot (or current photo) and either a self tape line read, or a prior scene (or audition) that you think best represents your abilities. Looking for authentic individuals and do not require a great deal of acting experience just good attitudes and willingness to take direction.

Nancy is Evens Mother and the main other focus of the picture. Nancy is a struggling single mother, her son 25, still living at home, has become an incredible burden on her ability to progress in life due to his many demands and harsh temper. She refuses to ever give up on her son, and supports him till the very end until it eventually kills her. Looking for someone who is not afraid of improvising as we are using the script as a guid for scenes but not strict rule book.
