About the project: Set in 1977 in Pittsburgh’s Hill District, August Wilson’s Jitney, part of his celebrated American Century Cycle, takes place in a worn-down cab station where unlicensed drivers called jitneys, scramble to make ends meet. As they confront shifting times, generational divides, and long buried dreams, Wilson reveals a deeply human story of fathers and sons, resilience, and the unbreakable threads of community within Black working class life. A hotel doorman and frequent passenger. Quirky, timid, adds texture and humor.
