Theatre Casting Call for "The Sunshine Boys"
Performers are needed for the "The Sunshine Boys" play. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: Auditions are first come, first served. No appointments are necessary and there is no pre-casting for this production. All auditionees must provide a complete list of conflicts and will be asked to have their picture taken. Characteristics – grouchy, sharp witted, sarcastic, easily irritated, does not suffer fools lightly, master of the one-liners. He is bored with old age, puttering around his small apartment, kind of sloppy in appearance. *Actor will need to memorize a lot of lines and perform them with a fast-paced delivery
Characteristics – pragmatic, pleasant, compassionate, congenial and has a strong family bond. He puts up with a lot but when he gets pushed too far, he is a match for Willie’s sharp wit. He dresses with style and it is clear he has taste and is cultured. *Actor will need to memorize a lot of lines and perform them with a fast-paced delivery
Characteristics – polite, calm, considerate, concerned with his uncle’s health, but no match in deterring him from his poor health habits. Willing to compromise but can be very persuasive. Handles being put upon with grace.
Characteristics – no nonsense, unflappable, has seen it all and no matter irritating the patient is – she keeps the upper hand. Funny and witty.
Characteristics – tall, curvy. Stereotype of a flirty, sexy provocative bit player in an old vaudeville show. Deadpan delivery.
Characteristics – straight man in skit, VERY SMALL PART but will record announcer role
Characteristics – organizer, peace-maker, johnny on the spot. Not prepared for dealing with cranky older actors.
Characteristics – the boss, used to being listened to, decisive – Will not be on stage and may or may not be seen by audience
