Singing Audition for "Singin’ in the Rain" Play

Sarnia, ON, Canada
ID: 295084Exp: 10/13/2025
Description:

ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking performers for musical "Singin’ in the Rain". More details are below. About the musical: Adapted from the 1952 film of the same name, Singin’ in the Rain portrays the transition from the silent film era to the new “talkies”. After the popularity of the first feature length talking film, The Jazz Singer, movie studios are forced to quickly change how they make films in order to accommodate sound. When Monumental Studios is forced to turn their silent film The Dueling Cavalier into the talkie The Dancing Cavalier, they have one problem: the star Lina Lamont can’t sing, and has a voice that sounds like nails on a chalkboard. As a result, the film’s other star, Don Lockwood, and his best friend Cosmo Brown, decide to use aspiring young actress Kathy Selden to provide her voice, calling into question what it means to act, how credit is distributed, and what it means to get a fair go in the movie business. Additional information: Performance Dates: May 22, 23, 27, 28, 29 at 7:30 pm, Matinees on Sunday May 24 and 30 at 2:00 pm. Tech Week: May 17-21. Media Day: Monday, April 20. Rehearsal start date: Monday February 9. Rehearsal Days: Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays 6:30-9:30. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be sent out, outlining the rehearsal commitments at least 2 weeks in advance. All cast must be available for Media Day, Tech week and all shows. This production is dance-intensive, and all characters will participate in choreographed movement. While dance plays an important role in the show, directors encourage performers of all skill levels to audition. You do not need to be a trained or professional dancer — directors are simply looking for individuals who can move confidently and express character through movement. If you're interested, please apply.
