Dancer Auditions for "A Bur-Less-Q Nutcracker" Show

Dallas, TX, United States
ID: 295036Exp: 10/21/2025
Description:

"A Bur-Less-Q Nutcracker" show needs actors. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Are you tired of the typical Holiday shows? Come check ours out! The women of the Beulaville Baptist Book Club are in dire straits financially, and as a last-ditch attempt to save their book club they decide to do a fundraiser and hire the Beaumont Ballet to perform Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker”. Madge’s Piña Colada Casserole unfortunately sickens the entire cast with food poisoning, and they are unable to perform. Luckily, there is another dance troop in town. It seems the Velvet Kittens Burlesque Dancers are stuck in Beulaville because their van broke down on their way to New Orleans. Madge has never heard of Burlesque, or as she pronounces it “Bur-less-Q”, and in an act of necessity hires the dance troupe to do “The Nutcracker”. The end result? The most original, unusual, and comical Nutcracker you have ever seen! With over 367 performances so far it has become the longest running Nutcracker in Texas history and developed a cult-like following with audiences. Additional info: Cold reads will be done from the script. For the dancers combination from the show will be given. Please bring head shot and resume. If interested, please apply.

7 roles

MadgeBoth genders30-60 y.o.All ethnicities

Acting role. She is the good hearted not-so-bright lady who accidentally food poisons the Beaumont Ballet and convinces the Burlesque troupe to do the Nutcracker not knowing anything about burlesque. She frequently makes commentary full of sexual innuendo while being blissfully unaware that she is doing so. If a male is cast the role will be done in drag.

WilmaBoth genders40-60 y.o.White / Caucasian

Acting role. She is the founder of the book club. Unfortunately, she suffers from an unknown medical condition so when she is off her meds she utters nonsense and highly inappropriate non-sequiturs, and always at the wrong time. When her meds are working, she is no nonsense, sharp tongued and witty woman who takes charge.

JoniBoth genders20-49 y.o.All ethnicities

Dance role. Joni is transgendered and non-binary. Joni had served in the Ukrainian Army and claims to have also danced for the Bolshoi Ballet in Russia. Joni is judgmental and is in the USA trying to find a husband. The actor portraying Joni has to have strong improv skills for they go into the audience to interview men to possibly be potential husbands.

JanaFemale30-60 y.o.All ethnicities

Dance role. She is the leader of the Burlesque troupe and must contend with the eccentric personalities in the book club and of her dancers while stuck in Beulaville. She is the only seemingly sane person in the entire cast and uses her humor as a defense mechanism, unfortunately it’s lost on everyone because it is too dry and sophisticated. Of the dancer roles she shares a book scene with the Book Club ladies.

JocelynFemale20-30 y.o.All ethnicities

Dance role. She is a total diva who cares more about her appearance than anything else and even touches up her make-up while dancing.

JessicaFemale20-30 y.o.All ethnicities

Dance role. She is the “good Catholic girl” off stage who then becomes the trashiest sexpot while dancing.

JillFemale20-40 y.o.All ethnicities

Dance role. She is a total ditz that drops f-bombs every time she speaks without realize she curses as much as she does.
