LEAD, (20s - 40s). An unstable, brutal man. Having spent decades leading the Assyrian army across the countryside, he has grown tired and is desperate to complete his final conquest: Jerusalem. Bigoted and arrogant, he underestimates Judith, enraptured in his own success – and his wish for rest.
