About the play: Stephen Sondheim’s "A Little Night Music" is a sophisticated, witty, romantic, and deeply moving musical about love, regret, second chances, and the tangled web of relationships. It’s a romantic farce about the lives of several upper middle-class couples. Mismatched couples join for an evening of romantic musical chairs on the longest night of the year. Additional information: SHOW WEEK: March 23-29, 2026. TORONTO REHEARSALS BEGIN: November 23, 2025. Located at Eglinton and Mount Pleasant. Two rehearsals to be held near Runnymede Subway. REHEARSAL REQUIREMENT: Individual music rehearsals and small group rehearsals will be held in November and December. Rehearsals will be broken down by scene and actors will only be required to attend when their scene is being rehearsed. Rehearsals are mandatory - any NA must be agreed to in the contract and audition period. Principal Role. Baritone (C3–F♯4). Middle-aged lawyer, charming but somewhat pompous. Recently remarried, but still attached to Desirée. Comic subtlety and warmth required.
Principal Role. Soprano (G♯3–A5). Fredrik’s young wife. Innocent, flirtatious, and restless. Bright legit soprano with youthful energy.
Principal Role. Tenor (G3–B4,). Fredrik’s son, a conflicted seminary student. Intense, awkward, lovesick. Strong singing actor.
Principal Role. Mezzo (C3–E4). Desirée’s mother. Witty, worldly, with a sharp tongue. Excellent comic timing.
Principal Role. Mezzo (B♭3–D5). Wry, sardonic wife of Count Malcolm. Sharp humour masking deep hurt. Strong singer-actor.
Principal Role. Baritone (B2–F♯4). Vain, blustery dragoon officer. Must balance comic bravado with vocal strength.
