About the project: "Honky Tonk Laundry": In this fun, country-flavored musical, laundromat owner Lana Mae and her new hire Katie turn the Wishy Washy Washateria into a honky-tonk, serving up suds, revenge, and classic hits by country legends while bringing justice to cheatin’ hearts. "Annie": Winner of seven Tony Awards, Annie follows a spirited orphan’s journey to find her family. With heart, humor, and hope, she outwits Miss Hannigan and finds happiness with billionaire Oliver Warbucks and her dog, Sandy. (female presenting). Lana Mae runs the Wishy-Washy Washateria. She is cheerful, bighearted, and dresses brightly and unapologetically; a real diamond-in-the-rough. She was raised in the rural woods down yonder and speaks in colorful Southern colloquialisms. Her thoughts regarding marriage and love are throwbacks to the fifties, and she has kept her marriage intact by ignoring all signs of her husband's philandering. (Mezzo-alto with strong belt.) (female presenting). Katie secures a job working for Lana Mae in the Wishy-Washy & sets out to help Lana Mae break free from her husband. At the same time, Katie is struggling with her own obsession with her ex-boyfriend, who still figures prominently in her life. Katie is neurotic, obsessive, and quick with her temper. With Lana Mae's help, Katie learns to open up and face her fears, especially after administering a little self-medication. (Mezzo-Soprano with strong belt.) "Honky Tonk Laundry"
