"Groundhog Day" Musical Needs Cast
Auditions for production of "Groundhog Day". Seeking cast. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Please see the breakdown below. Additional info: Seeking a diverse cast of characters. Dancers needed. Please bring tap shoes if you have them to the audition. Call backs will be scheduled for later in the afternoon or the next day. Rehearsals are typically Sunday – Thursday, 6:30 – 9:30 pm, beginning the week after auditions. Mainstage Shows typically run for three weekends (with some exceptions) including a week of technical rehearsals prior. You must be available for all of the show/tech dates. A cynical, arrogant, and entitled big-city TV weatherman sent to cover the Groundhog Day ceremony in Punxsutawney. He becomes trapped in a time loop, repeating the same day until he transforms into a selfless and caring individual.
A television producer who is ambitious and professional. She is Phil’s moral compass, though she initially finds him unbearable.
An awkward, high-energy life insurance salesman and former classmate of Phil’s. He is a recurring comedic character who encounters Phil every morning and represents the unchanging nature of Phil’s predicament.
A small town girl who is resigned to her role as the “pretty one”. She possesses a self-aware, fatalistic perspective on her life and is a part of the town’s “loop” in her own way.
Phil’s cameraman, who is constantly disrespected by Phil.
The upbeat and offbeat town elder, thoroughly dedicated to all things Groundhog.
An older, cheerful owner of the local bed and breakfast.

The diverse cast of the show includes a variety of residents of Punxsutawney, often appearing in multiple scenes to demonstrate the repetitive nature of the day and Phil’s growing involvement in their lives. Actors, dancers and singers are needed to fill out this group.
