5 roles
Elegant, sharp-witted, politically conservative matriarch of the Wyeth family. Former Hollywood screenwriter turned Palm Springs socialite. Fiercely protective of her family’s reputation and deeply concerned with appearances. Commanding, intelligent, often biting in her remarks, her motherly love often taking the form of emotional manipulation.
Polly’s husband. Former movie actor who became a prominent GOP politician and U.S. ambassador. Charming and good-natured on the surface, but carries a quiet burden of past family tragedy. Diplomatic, affable, prefers to avoid conflict, though he is capable of deep conviction when pushed.
Polly and Lyman’s daughter. A novelist who has struggled with depression. She’s recently returned home for Christmas after several years away. Has written a memoir that exposes painful family secrets, which she intends to publish. Sensitive, passionate, intellectual, and deeply idealistic — but also combative when her truth is challenged.
The youngest Wyeth child, a successful reality TV producer. Generally easygoing and lighthearted, acting as the family peacemaker. While he avoids the heavy emotional battles, he is more perceptive than he lets on. Charming, humorous, laid-back, with an instinct for diffusing tension — until his patience runs out.
Polly’s sister and former writing partner from their Hollywood days. Now recovering from addiction and living with the Wyeths. More liberal than her sister and quick to take Brooke’s side in family disputes. Witty, brash, and outspoken, often using humor as both a weapon and a shield.
